Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Supervisor: Multiple Openings

Primary Job Description

Clinical Laboratory Scientists perform a variety of standardized high complexity clinical laboratory tests across multiple disciplines, including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Immunology.  Independently conducts bench scientific experimentation to develop, verify, and validate new diagnostic products using NGS, PCR, qPCR, ELISA, and Flow cytometry technology for implementation in CAP/CLIA laboratories. This position also involves participation in scientific collaboration with sponsors for new technology/product development.

Core Job Responsibilities

Performs complex experimental procedures within the overall scope of a clinical or clinical trial project and/or diagnostic test development project. Displays strong technical knowledge and expertise in molecular biology methods such as DNA/ RNA extractions, PCR, qRT-PCR, and sequencing, and protein-based methodologies including ELISA and Flow cytometry testing.

Responsible for troubleshooting diagnostic testing and providing technical expertise.  Summarizes data, interprets results, and draws conclusions. Presents scientific data in internal and external meetings.  Provides consultation to others on technical, clinical, and regulatory issues.  Able to multitask and maintain several projects at one time.

Takes on additional business-related responsibilities or projects,  including evaluation of new techniques and procedures in terms of personnel and requirements, method comparison, cost analysis, establishment of reference ranges, writing and revising technical procedures, and evaluation of productivity and key results measures.

 Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Training

  • California CLS license
  • Ph.D., Master’s or Bachelor’s in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or genetics preferred
  • 2-5 years of relevant industrial experience

Research Scientist I

Primary Job Description

Design and conduct routine to complex experimental procedures within the overall scope of a research project and/or diagnostic test development project. Displays strong technical knowledge and expertise in molecular biology methods such as DNA/ RNA extractions, PCR, qRT-PCR, and sequencing. Experience with NGS and basic bioinformatics tools for NGS analysis is highly preferred.

Responsible for designing and troubleshooting experiments. Providing technical expertise and problem-solving. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Designs and conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets results, and draws conclusions. Recommends options for future experiments. Presents scientific data in internal and external meetings. Supervises or coaches lower-level scientists. Provides consultation to others on technical issues. Conducts meetings with external collaborators and clients. Prepares and present scientific reports and posters. Able to multitask and maintain several projects at one time.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Training

  • Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or genetics
  • 0-3 years of relevant research experience or industrial experience
  • California CLS license preferred
